I. GAME DESCRIPTION

This is an I.Q. game, the player must connect the source pipe to the sink pipe within the time limit. Otherwise, sewage will flow out from the unconnected pipes and drown the poor little boy.

II. GETTING STARTED

After the logo, title and heading screens, press START to enter the difficulty selection screen, use the SELECT key to move the pointer to select one of the difficult level (EASY, NORMAL, HARD) and press START to confirm your choice. In the game setup screen, you will find two pipes, labelled S and E. The top right of the LCD gives you the remaining time before the sewage will flow out. The status information is displayed at the bottom of the LCD, the left most pipe can be selected by using the B-KEY, the pipe next to it can be selected by using the A-KEY, then follows the number of live left, stage number and current score.
Use the direction keys to move the boy. Choose and place the connection pipe segments by using the A-KEY or B-KEY. The boy must stand in the centre of the square before the A-KEY or B-KEY functions are executed. If the boy is standing on the edge of the square, no pipe segment is placed, a sound will be heard instead. If the S pipe to E pipe connections are made within the time limit, you can pass to the next stage.

III. GAME DETAILS

a.  There are 6 different type of pipe segments. The two pipe segments at the bottom left hand corner of the LCD can be selected by using the A-KEY and B-KEY.
b. There are 4 types of obstacles :
STONE    :   It can be moved. If the stone is moved and hit the pipe, causing damage to the pipe, then sewage will flow out of the damaged pipe, drowning the boy. Scores will be deducted.
TREE    :   Can not be moved.
TRAP    :   If the boy falls into this trap, a life is lost. The player may fill the trap with stone, effectively removing the trap.
FLASH    :   Can not be moved or touched.
c. There are a total of 36 game stages.
d. Money bags can be collected, adding points to the score. Collecting the money bags may cause the boy to move in a bigger step at a time. Points are also given when pipe segments are placed in empty areas.
e. During construction of the pipe, any individual pipe segments can be replaced if sewage has not yet started flowing. However, points will be deducted for such replacement. Any excess of pipe segments after a complete pipe is formed, points will be deducted.
f. When the time reaches zero, sewage will start flowing from the S pipe. If the pipe segments are not properly linked, then the boy will be drowned.
g. With proper connection of pipes segments, sewage will flow from S pipe segment to E pipe segment. Points will be rewarded for the time remaining after successful connection of the pipe segments.
h. You are given 3 lives in this game. When all lives are lost, the game is over and the player may choose to continue (for a maximum of 3 times only) or end the game.

IV. GAME SCORE

1.  Place a pipe segment in empty areas —  10 points
2. Collecting a money bag —  200 points

Recycle Design was not programmed to feature an ending sequence. The final stage to be programmed appears to be stage 36. Completing this stage starts the game down an unending path of blank stages with the time remaining always starting at 1.
